John, I’ve seen livelihoods go up in flames - fanned by Shell's reckless pursuit of oil and profit.
Wildfires ripped through the farmland I worked on in Oregon and the horror of years of hard work reduced to ashes in a matter of minutes is beyond words.
Shell knows their fossil fuel business is fuelling death and destruction. They just don’t care. That's why I occupied Shell’s oil rig for 13 days.
Now Shell are suing Greenpeace in a desperate attempt to silence us.
I’m asking you directly, John, we urgently need to raise £1 million to take on the might of Shell and Big Oil: Will you donate today?

Watching how the blaze destroyed generations of our labour and love for the family run farm turned my grief into rage. I was determined to expose the oil giants whose greed fuelled the fires.
When I was asked to join the activist team to take on Shell and occupy their oil platform, I felt lucky that I had an important role to play.
Me and five activists sailed almost 2,500 miles from the Canary Islands to Norway, in the longest occupation of an oil platform in Greenpeace history. After 13 cold nights aboard Shell’s oil rig, we climbed the flare boom with our banner as our final standoff.
Our message was clear: Shell must stop drilling for new oil and gas and start paying to fix the global devastation they’ve caused to communities that are hit the hardest by climate disasters.
Thanks to you - we did what only Greenpeace has the skills and resources to do.
We occupied Shell’s oil rig in the middle of the ocean, and in doing so exposed to the world their reckless commitment to continue drilling new oil and gas in the middle of a climate emergency.
Shell is ramping up its climate wrecking activities and wants to silence us. Will you help me stop them? Your vital support will help fund our fight against Shell and destructive Big Oil – please donate today:

As a team of activists we came from all around the world, with one thing in common: we’ve all witnessed the horror of the climate crisis and want justice for the communities devastated by the senseless pursuit of profit.
This experience has shown me that together, we are stronger than the multi-billion dollar companies that are putting profits over people and our planet. So please, will you join me and be part of the resistance against Shell and Big Oil bullies?
Thank you in advance for your support - it’s a great motivation to me knowing I have you behind me.
In solidarity,
Usnea Granger
Greenpeace activist
