Hamas Rejects Another Ceasefire Proposal

Spencer Brown: Hamas has, in an unsurprising development for the barbaric terrorists, rejected another ceasefire proposal — again demonstrating its refusal to lay down arms or exchange innocent hostages for its members held by Israel. After rejecting multiple ceasefire proposals since December, Hamas again on Monday torpedoed the latest round of talks with Israel in Cairo being mediated by the Egyptians, Qataris, and CIA Director William Burns. Meanwhile, in the U.S., the useful idiots sympathetic to Hamas’ end goal of wiping out Israel continue chanting “CEASEFIRE NOW” to allow the terrorists to reconstitute and someday launch another devastating attack — even as Hamas rejects each new ceasefire offer put before them. New reports have emerged that ceasefire offers are being rejected by Hamas because the terrorists are unable to locate 40 living hostages (Townhall). OSINTDefender: Hamas Negotiators have reportedly told International Meditators in Cairo that it has No Ability to Release the 40 Hostages in the Humanitarian Category (Women, Children, and Elderly) that were included in yesterday’s Ceasefire Proposal because out of the 136 Hostages that remain in the Gaza Strip, a Significant number are now believed to be Dead (X).

Pope Francis Gives a Hard “No” to Gender Surgeries
National Review: The Vatican declared Monday that transgender surgeries, surrogacy, and gender theory are threats to human dignity, breaking with the progressive approach to social issues that Pope Francis has adopted in recent years. In a 20-page document titled “Infinite Dignity,” the Vatican argues these practices are comparable to euthanasia or abortion as violations of God’s plan for human life. The declaration, five years in the making, was signed and approved by Pope Francis, who ordered it to be written and published. In the document, the Vatican doctrine office formally rejects gender theory and any attempt to change one’s gender, for the most part, while upholding the fact that men and women are biologically different (National Review). Ed Morrissey: When we assert ourselves as gods over nature and objective reality, it follows that we will brook no dissent from our edicts. The Pope also lands on a key element of gender ideology: a rebellion against the nuclear family. The Marxists also attempted to destroy the family in a number of ways; indoctrination and/or removal of children, limiting the procreative freedom of families, and sometimes just simply murder and sterilization. The State was the family; it was not for nothing that Orwell used the term “Big Brother” in 1984, and explained it explicitly as a replacement for the normal human family. Today, those who wish to destroy the family are using sterilization again, only this time aimed at children under the Orwellian term “gender-affirming care.” Pope Francis addresses sex change ‘therapies’ as an assault on the dignity of humans in their reproductive potential, and an attack on the unified body and soul of each human being (HotAir).

Biden Tries Once Again for Comprehensive Student Loan Cancellation
One more try before the November election. Washington Examiner: President Joe Biden unveiled a proposal to cancel or reduce student loan debt for as many as 30 million borrowers just months before the 2024 general election. As of Monday, the Biden administration has successfully canceled billions in loan debt for more than 4 million borrowers. A coalition of Republican-led states has challenged his actions in court, setting up another legal showdown that has direct implications for Biden’s reelection campaign as he attempts to court voting blocs including younger voters. The White House said this new proposal would “provide financial stability” for roughly 70% of all federal student loan borrowers, the bulk of which are black and Latino (Washington Examiner). Hill: The plans would give borrowers $20,000 in loan forgiveness for balances that have grown due to unpaid interest since entering repayment, regardless of income. Those who qualify for the SAVE IDR plan would get the full balance of their unpaid interest forgiven (Hill). Charlie Kirk: Joe Biden first attempt to forgive student loans was slapped down by the Court so he’s launching a cynical Plan B loan forgiveness scheme—your tax dollars for Democrat votes—to purchase the votes of young people he’s losing in droves. 70% of all federal student loan borrowers would see their debt reduced or fully canceled starting in the fall, just in time for the election (X)!

National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Formally Protects Female Athletics New Transgender Policy
Daily Mail: The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) banned transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports on Monday. The NAIA said it supported “fair and safe competition for all student-athletes” and that “Title IX ensures there are separate and equal opportunities for female athletes.” The organization laid out its participation rules with conditions (Daily Mail). Riley Gaines: The NAIA becomes the first national college governing body to mandate athletes compete with their sex in a overwhelming 25-0 vote. “We believed our first responsibility was to create fairness and competition in the NAIA…We also think it aligns with the reasons Title IX was created” (X).

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Says Date is Set for Rafah Invasion
Spencer Brown: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that his government had set a date to begin operations in Rafah even after U.S. President Joe Biden reneged on his previous commitment of solidarity with the Jewish state in the wake of Hamas terrorists’ October 7 massacre. In a video message, Netanyahu reiterated his commitment to continuing Israel’s fight to eliminate Hamas and said “there is a date” for an IDF operation to neutralize terrorists in Rafah (Townhall). Benjamin Netanyahu: Today I received a detailed report on the talks in Cairo, we are working all the time to achieve our goals, primarily the release of all our hostages and achieving a complete victory over Hamas. This victory requires entry into Rafah and the elimination of the terrorist battalions there. It will happen – there is a date (X).

San Francisco Introduces Bill Forcing Grocery Stores to Give Notice Before Closures, Provide Alternatives
San Francisco is attempting to control grocery stores now. Fox Business: A San Francisco lawmaker introduced a proposal that would require grocery stores in the city to provide six months of notice before closing a store and to explore a replacement supermarket at the vacated location. Dean Preston, a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, introduced what he calls the Grocery Protection Act – which is based on a proposal the board approved in 1984 that was vetoed by then-San Francisco Mayor Dianne Feinstein. Preston’s proposal would require grocery store owners to provide six months written notice to the Board of Supervisors as well as the Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD). The store would also be required to post notices at all entries and exits as a means of informing customers and the general public. The rule wouldn’t preclude closures due to a store being unprofitable (Fox Business).

Enthusiasm for EV Ownership Fades
Gallup: Seven percent of Americans, up from 4% a year ago, report that they own an electric vehicle. That increase is matched by an equal decline in the percentage saying they are seriously considering buying one, from 12% to 9%. Meanwhile, fewer Americans — 35%, down from 43% in 2023 — say they might consider buying an EV in the future. Thus, even as some people have moved ahead with their intent to buy an EV in the past year, public demand for the cars has contracted (Gallup). Washington Examiner: The lukewarm feelings on electric vehicles come as carmakers and the Biden administration scale back their expectations on EVs. Several car manufacturers have delayed or changed their electric vehicle plans amid the lack of consumer excitement. The Biden administration’s adjusted auto tailpipe emissions requirements through 2029 are expected to lower the number of strictly electric vehicles to be sold by 2032 (Washington Examiner).

Nation Saw Job Growth in March, But Majority of Jobs Went to Foreign Workers
Wall Street Journal: Jobs grew at a brisk pace in March, but wage growth was contained, confirming a belief among economists that the U.S. can continue to expand employment without fanning inflation. U.S. employers added a seasonally adjusted 303,000 jobs in March, the Labor Department reported Friday, significantly more than the 200,000 economists expected. The unemployment rate slipped to 3.8% (Wall Street Journal). RNC Research: Under Biden, “job gains have largely gone to foreign-born workers — both legal and illegal,” WJLA reports. “From February 2020 to this past March, the number of migrant workers grew to 3.4 million — while the number of U.S.-born workers declined by 78,000” (X).

American Library Association Claims Removing Sexually Explicit Books From Children’s Libraries Targets LGBT Groups
NBC: The American Library Association, a nonprofit organization that tracks efforts to ban books nationwide, released a list Monday detailing the 10 most challenged titles of 2023 — seven of which deal with LGBTQ themes. In recent years, school districts and state legislatures across the U.S. have been roiled by fierce debates over what reading materials are appropriate for kids and teenagers (NBC). National Review: The progressive American Library Association (ALA) on Monday claimed that the parental campaigns to remove sexually obscene books from children’s libraries unfairly target LGBT and minority communities. In March, the ALA claimed that public libraries experienced a 92 percent increase in the number of titles that were objected to on the basis of inappropriate content compared to the previous year (National Review).
