Lauren Underwood For Congress

Content warning: This email discusses gun violence.

John —

It’s been three years since President Biden announced executive actions to combat the gun violence epidemic. Then in 2022, the House passed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) officially making it law.

The FBI recently announced that the expanded outreach under the BSCA has resulted in the 500th denial of an unlawful firearm purchase by a person under the age of 21. The FBI's criminal background check system has conducted over 200,000 checks keeping over 1,900 firearms out of the hands of dangerous and prohibited individuals.

We're making progress against gun violence, but tragedy strikes daily. This is a public health crisis that has shattered the sense of safety we deserve in our communities, schools, and everywhere we go.

John, we want to know how you feel about Congress’ efforts to prevent gun violence. Please take our live poll by clicking the 👍🏼 or 👎🏼 below.

Has Congress done enough to address
the gun violence epidemic?

Frustratingly, the GOP continues to block Congress from passing more gun safety measures to save lives — despite broad public support for legislative solutions. Each hollow statement and tragic incident only compounds the trauma and fear felt by so many across the country.

We have an obligation to protect our communities from gun violence. This responsibility demands federal action.

Your support and voice have been pivotal to our recent progress. Could you spare a few seconds to click the 👍🏼 or 👎🏼 vote in our live poll?

Has Congress done enough to address
the gun violence epidemic?

We must take action to address the root causes of gun violence and prevent future generations from suffering unimaginable terror and grief.

Everyone deserves to feel safe and secure in their communities. John, let's work together to make that a reality.
