In Bucks County, Pennsylvania, lawmakers are suing six oil companies, holding them responsible for heightened storms caused by climate change, such as the flood that killed seven county residents last summer.

Countless municipal governments in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Puerto Rico, and 13 states, along with Washington, D.C., have rallied in the fight against climate change. They've taken legal action against oil and gas giants, holding Big Oil accountable for its dangerous impact on our planet's climate.

But honestly, Big Oil is just looking more desperate by the day. They are spending millions of dollars to keep our generation in the dark about their crimes and continue to spread misinformation about climate change. The House Oversight Committee found that Big Oil is “posturing on climate issues while avoiding real commitments” when it comes to climate change.

Big Oil's been mastering the art of deception for ages, dividing folks to keep on polluting. Then there’s us, the youth climate movement— more powerful, and angrier than ever before, and we’re totally over their BS.

Sunrise is a movement of young people to stop climate change and create millions of jobs. We're building people and political power to end the stranglehold Big Oil has on our democracy and win a Green New Deal. Whether we succeed at that mission will shape the future of my generation and generations to come.
