John–
1100 Glock pistols modified into illegal machine guns were recovered in Chicago in the last two years alone.
That's why last month, we announced a lawsuit with the City of Chicago against Glock—the maker of the most popular handguns in the United States—alleging that Glock is facilitating the spread of illegal machine guns on the streets of Chicago.
Learn about this first-of-its-kind lawsuit to hold Glock accountable.
Glock produces semiautomatic pistols in such a way that they can be easily converted into illegal machine guns in a matter of minutes with a cheap, quarter-sized device that allows the pistol to fire at a rate as fast as—or faster than—many U.S. military fully automatic firearms and machine guns.
As alleged in the lawsuit, despite knowing for decades that the design of its semiautomatic pistols allows for easy conversion into illegal machine guns, Glock has chosen not to fix the problem to maximize sales and profit despite the tragic consequences for Chicagoans.
The bottom line of this lawsuit is clear: Taking steps to prevent the dramatic increase in machine guns on the streets of Chicago isn't just the right thing to do—it's Glock's legal obligation.
