We've made it to our week of action for National Youth HIV & AIDS Day (NYHAAD)! This week, we're coordinating a series of events & activities - national, local and virtual - and today we come to you with our Social Media Toolkit so you can participate too.
NYHAAD is a project of Advocates for Youth that’s commemorated annually on April 10th to urge policymakers and the public to take action regarding the impact of HIV and AIDS on young people and highlight the HIV prevention, treatment, and care campaigns of young people in the U.S. We said we'd give you plenty of time to prep before Wednesday’s awareness day, so here we are with the Social Media Toolkit we promised!
Below is a list of what else we’re amplifying, including the first event tomorrow for those of you in DC!
Check out next week's schedule!
TODAY, APRIL 8th - #NYHAAD 101 Launch
Stay tuned to our Instagram account @advocatesforyouth to learn more about the NYHAAD campaign, our values, and our demands. In addition, throughout the week the @MyStoryOutLoud account will be highlighting several NYHAAD Ambassadors—a bold group of young people leading HIV prevention, treatment, and care campaigns in their communities.
TUESDAY, APRIL 9th - Congressional Briefing
If you happen to be in DC, join us at the Rayburn House Office Building from 11:30 AM EST - 12:30 PM EST for a youth-led Congressional Briefing in partnership with the Office of Congresswoman Barbara Lee. Three NYHAAD Ambassadors will brief policymakers and advocates on the current state of youth HIV prevention, treatment, and care.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10th - Join us online using #NYHAAD & #StopHIVTogether
April 10th is National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day! Join us and thousands of accounts across the country in posting online using #NYHAAD. We encourage you to (1) use the NYHAAD toolkit here for inspiration. Remember to use #NYHAAD in your posts, no matter what social media network you choose.
THURSDAY, APRIL 11th - Healthcare Professionals, Youth, & PrEP
Join us in urging healthcare professionals to learn more about pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and young people, and their unique role in addressing barriers. In partnership with Clinical Care Options (CCO), we’re sharing a medical education series for healthcare professionals: Paths Forward in PrEP: Overcoming Barriers to PrEP Engagement in Adolescents. Share the series, using our social media toolkit, throughout the day.
And of course, more than 50 youth activists are leading campaigns in their own communities too. Feel free to reply to this email with any questions at all!
Best,
