A few weeks ago, Republican lawmakers voted in favor of a bill that would break Iowa’s AEAs.

Senate Dems opposed this bill because we know the truth: this bill is a power grab that will decimate special education support in rural areas. 

John, now Republican politicians are already spinning a narrative to hide the reality that this bill will cripple our AEAs. Can you make a grassroots donation of just $15 today so that IA Dems can make sure Iowans know the truth?

In order to distract people from this unpopular bill, GOP lawmakers strategically introduced increases in teaching salaries.

Iowa GOP Chairman Jeff Kaufmann claimed that IA Dems voted against the bill because we don’t support teachers, despite the fact that my fellow Democratic Senators and I have lobbied for increased pay for Iowa teachers and support staff for years.

IA Dems opposed the bill as a whole because it was a clear attempt at logrolling increases in teacher’s compensation into a vastly unpopular bill that would destroy Iowa’s AEAs by 1️⃣ turning them into unstable fee-for-service programs, 2️⃣ reducing access in rural areas, and 3️⃣ consolidate power in Des Moines.
