It’s been awhile since we talked about Project 2025, but there are some recent developments that affect each and every one of us.

 

To refresh your memory, Project 2025 is essentially a pre-drafted presidential transition plan written and organized by far-right political organizations, attorneys, and strategists to maximize power in the hands of the president.


It’s not just an idea, either. The details for every step of this agenda are laid out in a 30-chapter document titled Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise.

The first step is recruiting 54,000+ pre-screened, die-hard MAGA folks and installing them in every federal agency, allowing Trump nearly full control of our institutions. With that power, he’ll be able to impose Republicans’ extreme agenda without approval from Congress.

 

I’m not exaggerating, John. If Donald Trump wins in November, then Project 2025 will set fire to every democratic norm and usher us into an authoritarian takeover. 

 

We’ve known about this since late last year, but there’s news. I’ll give you the good news first.

 

With a solid Democratic majority in Congress, we can still stop him. That’s why we need to fight for every single seat in the House – and why I’m working overtime to take ID-02’s seat from Republican Mike Simpson. Will you help me?

Now for the bad news – and it’s terrifying.

 

Journalists have gone through all 920 pages of Project 2025 and broken down some of the most life-altering policies included in this manual for authoritarianism. Here’s a brief rundown:

 

Abortion will be banned nationwide, including both surgical procedures and all medications used for non-surgical abortions. 

 

Contraception will be limited to the upper class with a ban on health insurance companies covering the costs of birth control pills and all other methods of preventing pregnancy.

 

Even mentioning LGBTQ+ people (like me) will be illegal. This one’s hidden inside a policy to outlaw all adult content, which states that it includes any media that acknowledges the existence of or depicts gay and trans people. The punishment for producing or distributing said content is prison time. 


They really want to force us to either go to prison or go back into hiding, John. Please help me stop these attacks on my community and my life.

Environmental regulations will be slashed, all efforts to combat the climate crisis will end, and oil drilling will multiply across the country. 

 

Police departments will be nationalized, giving Trump’s DOJ the power to override state and local governments and give orders to law enforcement.

 

The FBI director and military generals will have their authority limited, giving Donald Trump more control over our national defense than any president in history. 

 

DHS will be abolished and replaced with a new agency solely focused on militarizing the border. Without the Dept. of Homeland Security and with Trump controlling the FBI, we’d be left with no ability to identify and prevent domestic terrorism.

 

The list goes on, John.

 

We have to accept that classic conservatism doesn’t exist any more. Project 2025 is the Republican agenda.

 

Every major “conservative” think tank, non-profit, and legal organization that influences our lawmakers and our government is in on this takeover, and I’d bet many GOP members of Congress are, too. 

 

I’m running against a MAGA Republican who sides with Trump on 90% of the issues brought before Congress. Mike Simpson won’t do anything to stop this threat or hold Donald Trump accountable, but I will.

 

I love our country. Even if these policies did not directly harm me and my family, I would fight to stop Republicans from changing it. That’s why I’m running for Congress. 

 

Together, we can give Democrats the House majority and put a stop to this extremism and assault on our democracy.
