Hi John,

Didn’t catch our latest webinar, “No Borders, No Walls, Abortion Access for All”? No problem! You still have a chance to delve into the challenges immigrant communities encounter in accessing abortion. It is clear to us that those who oppose abortion access also oppose the rights of immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. Let's unite our efforts to advocate for abortion seekers' rights alongside our immigrant communities.

Watch our webinar here.

A picture of the border wall has text in front of it that reads “no borders, no walls, abortion access for all!” The Reproaction logo is on the left of this in white text.

Medication Abortion is Safe and Effective

On March 26, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments for a case challenging access to mifepristone, one of the drugs used in medication abortion. We understand that medication abortion is a safe, effective, and common procedure. The resistance against self-managed abortion largely stems from stigma, making it crucial for us to prioritize efforts in dismantling this stigma in our work.

Self-Care

Self-care is an intentional practice that roots us in the present despite the oppression we may face. Regular self-care is essential for sustainable and effective activism.

Here are our self-care tips for April:

  1. One screen at a time. We are surrounded by screens all day whether it is a phone, laptop, or TV. I recently implemented a new rule for myself that if my work doesn’t demand it, I only actively use one screen at a time. Even when I’m watching TV for leisure, I try to leave my phone in a different room so I’m not constantly bombarding my eyes (even if I have blue light glasses)! It has both made me more productive when I need to get things done and helped me relax more when I’m decompressing. – Negar, Senior Tactical Research Manager
  2. Check out your local library! It is so easy to feel disconnected from your local community, especially if you live in a new city. Local libraries are always hosting educational and creative events that allow you to connect with your community, try to attend one! – Laila, Lead Organizer
  3. Sing! Someone once told me: "If you're singing, you're breathing." I remember that every time I feel stressed and find myself holding my breath. Plus, it is a natural mood booster! – Liz, Senior Development and Operations Manager

See you next month!

In Solidarity,

Erin, Shireen, Ani, Elizabeth, Evonnia, Jacqueline, Jessica, Kelli, Kieran, Laila, Nataley, Negar, and the Reproaction team
