In today’s culture, where young people face animosity and peer pressure against their pro-life world view, GLA is here to unapologetically support and promote them through our Speak Life Oratory Contest.

2024 Speak Life Oratory Contest

Thursday, May 9, 2024

10:00AM to 12:00PM

Georgia State Capitol Senate Chamber

Registration deadline: Tuesday, May 7, 2024 - includes speech submission

Contestants will research, write, and present their **original** 5 - 7 minute speech on one of the following topics:

Abortion

Infanticide

Euthanasia / Assisted Suicide

Stem Cell Research

** Presentations under 4 minutes or over 8 minutes, or which are not original to this competition will be disqualified.

Prizes!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Georgia’s Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson, first, second, and third place winners will receive substantial scholarship monies and cash prizes!

1st Place

$1,000 Gracie Eden Scholarship, PLUS
$700 from the Faith Thompson Initiative, AND
Compete nationally in the Jane B. Thompson Oratory Contest at the National Right to Life Convention, June 28-29 in Washington DC! Travel expenses up to $500 will be funded by the Maxwell Thompson Initiative. The national competition offers another chance to win a scholarship of $1,000 as well as meeting fellow pro-life students from across the country, AND…

2nd Place

$200 from the Faith Thompson Initiative
Featured on GLA’s social media and website.

3rd Place winner will receive $100 from the Faith Thompson Initiative.

Raising Up the Next Generation of Pro-Life Leaders

Speak Life is open to current public, private, charter, hybrid, or home-school high school juniors and seniors. Contestants will not only help spread the pro-life message and save lives; but also build their own public speaking skills and confidence!

Don't Delay! Deadline for registrations is NO LATER THAN 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. Registrations will only be accepted via the entry form here. Walk-in or day-of registrations will not be permitted.

In 2022, Abbey Butte, not only won the GLA’s statewide Speak Life Oratory Contest, she also went on to win first place at the National Right to Life Oratory contest! Her win made her the second student from GLA’s Speak Life contest in three years to win first place at the national level! This contest is both a powerful opportunity for those who eloquently represent what the pro-life movement is truly about. We are incredibly proud of Abbey and look forward to what she and all future contestants do to speak life into today’s tumultuous world.
