As we prepare for IJM and Dressember’s annual Race to Restore, we center ourselves on why we are racing. We are racing for the restoration of thousands of survivors who are now free from exploitation and abuse and are beginning their journey towards flourishing in safety and freedom.
This year, the funds raised during Race to Restore can have double the impact! A generous donor has committed to matching up to $50,000 raised by you and your team. Every dollar will have a lasting impact on survivors walking through their journey of restoration.
What is restoration? Restoration is the process of recovery and healing that can begin when a victim of violence is safe from the abuse and exploitation they experienced. IJM's aftercare teams walk alongside survivors to ensure they have access to the resources they need to thrive. When you participate in Race to Restore, you are helping provide resources such as:
Immediate needs like food, urgent medical care, shelter, emotional support and trauma-informed care.
Short-term needs like housing, basic food and necessities, access to community resources and pathways to employment.
Long-term needs like sustainable housing, ethical employment, access to education and essential life-skills training.
Psychological needs like empowerment, emotional support, decision-making skills and help with long-term planning.
If you haven't signed up, we hope you will consider joining us and supporting the journey of restoration. And for those who have already registered, we can't wait to see you out there!
Racing alongside you,
