MICHIGAN COALITION FOR RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS "Promoting safe use and ownership of firearms through education, litigation, and legislation." MONDAY E'NEWS April 2024 CPL Report For the third month in a row, Michigan experienced a substantial increase in concealed pistol licenses adding 4,541 net CPLs for a new all-time record high of 834,879. The strong demand is a result of recently enacted gun control legislation in Lansing that makes it more difficult to purchase long guns without a CPL along with the increasing challenge of obtaining purchase permits from some law enforcement agencies that have greatly limited days and hours of availability. The full report from the Michigan State Police can be found HERE. An example of a local police department limiting purchase permits to four hours on a single day of the week -when most people are at work or in school. The alternative is to obtain a CPL to bypass the purchase permit or fail to comply with new legal requirements.
