Friends --

We will be having our April General Meeting this Saturday, April 4, 10am-noon via Zoom. Please register for the meeting here:

After registering you will receive a confirmation email with information about joining the meeting. We recommend installing and joining the call via the Zoom app rather than dialing in by phone, if possible.

This has been a difficult several weeks since our last General Meeting. We were deeply saddened to learn that State Representative Isaac Robinson died from complications related to COVID-19 on Sunday. Our thoughts are with Isaac’s family and in particular his father, Roger, a founding member of Detroit DSA and an integral member of our chapter. Isaac was a true advocate for Detroit and Hamtramck. This is a tremendous loss.

At our meeting Saturday we will check in, talk about where we are as a chapter, and how we continue to organize amid a pandemic.

We will also tend to important chapter business. We will be doing our third reading and second vote on amending our chapter bylaws. A straw poll will be taken on Zoom and the results will be tabulated and validated following the meeting.

The current bylaws can be found here. The proposed new bylaws are here.

If you have any proposed amendments to the proposed bylaws that we voted to approve last month, please send them to [email protected] no later than 5 pm on Friday. It will be very difficult to take amendments “from the floor” during a Zoom call. Only dues paying members are eligible to vote or propose amendments.

We look forward to reconnecting on Saturday.

In solidarity,

Danielle
