The COVID-19 crisis is affecting the nation's health, economy, politics, and social ties in ways we are only beginning to understand. Many issues are coming to light: the impact of the virus on the most vulnerable-the homeless, the frontline workers, and the immigrants; impacts on low-wage workers, people of color, and women, many of whom must show up to work or who make up the majority of nurses; the attempts to put capitalism on steroids by gutting environmental protections and allowing corporations to pollute even more; the presidential elections in which campaigning is on hold and the threat of a postponement is not out of the question; and many more.
While some countries have ramped up testing, tracing, and isolation to get ahead of the coronavirus, the Trump Administration initially downplayed it, refuses to marshal the laws and agencies needed to fight the virus, and plays catch-up-with the result being preventable loss of life.
Instead, what would a proper response to the crisis look like? How would we, the people, take care of the working class and the country? How should we respond politically to the many issues prompted by this crisis? What are the avenues for mutual aid? How can we organize politically while staying at home?
The Town Hall [ [link removed] ] will address these questions. Join us this Sunday. Invite friends, family, co-workers, and activists to attend. (Delete the "Unsubscribe" button at the bottom of this message before you forward it to others.)
