For folks in my state, and the Virginia economy, affordable
health care and strengthened Medicaid are critical. But if it
were up to Trump and his allies in Congress, the Affordable
Care Act would be gone and Medicaid would be gutted.

In my administration, we believe that if you work hard, you
should be able to put food on the table and even save a
little. But across the country, Republican legislatures and
governors continue to give handouts to the wealthy, and some
have even lowered the minimum wage.

In Virginia, even before President Trump pulled out of the
Paris accord, I began the process of carbon reduction
unilaterally. But most Republicans refuse to even
acknowledge simple scientific facts.

On issue after issue, the gap between what the majority of
Americans want and what Republicans in Washington and state
capitols across the country are doing is wider than it has
ever been.

So if we're going to get our country back on the right
track, we need to replace Republicans at every level of
office with Democrats who will fight for the values that
most Americans believe in:

I know we can do it, Samuel. I've seen the energy and passion
that millions of Americans have put into standing up to
Trump and the GOP on everything from Trump's Muslim ban to
his deportation raids to health care repeal.
