6 months ago, terrorist attacks in Israel escalated a conflict that has now resulted in a humanitarian disaster for the people of Gaza.

The suffering must end and peace must prevail. We condemn the violence in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel, including all sexual violence, and echo the UN Secretary-General’s call for a sustained humanitarian ceasefire and the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages by Hamas.

6 months later, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is an absolute catastrophe.

Everyone in Gaza is hungry, facing the imminent threat of famine. Growing desperate, people are turning to scavenged scraps of rotten corn, animal fodder unfit for human consumption, and even leaves for food.

Every day has become a fight for survival for pregnant women and newborns. Pregnant women are giving birth without anesthesia, and when they can find a hospital bed, immediately after birth they are kicked out to wet, filthy cots to make room for the next patient. Doctors report that they no longer see ‘normal-sized babies’ and that newborns are often too weak to even cry.

Humanitarian aid is desperately needed which is why your gifts have been so instrumental in delivering care to those who need it most. Thanks to support, UNFPA has delivered enough lifesaving medicines and equipment to support more than half of the births — 21,000 — in Gaza since October 2023.

What’s being delivered is only a fraction of what’s needed to support the tens of thousands of pregnant women who will give birth in the next month, especially with the health care system in a state of total collapse.

Will you make an emergency gift to deliver lifesaving care to pregnant women, newborns, and all those living through war and crisis, in Gaza and around the world? Your gift will make a world of difference to those who have nothing. [[link removed]]

In any conflict, and especially war, women and girls are among the most vulnerable.

Through your support today, we can provide any woman or girl who seeks care from UNFPA with the lifesaving care she needs. We can make good on our promise to be there for every woman and girl. No other organization has the infrastructure, relationships, expertise, or access to do the work we do.

Thank you for supporting this critical work.
