Congressional Art Competition
I was honored to host a reception for NC-03’s 2024 Congressional Art Competition participants. Students submitted their interpretation of this year’s theme: “Scenery.”
Miles Hulka from Arendell Parrott Academy was awarded First Place in the competition for his piece capturing the beauty of Eastern North Carolina. I’m grateful for our incredible panel of judges for their role in making this possible.
Congratulations Miles on this remarkable honor and to all the other talented artists who submitted their work as well!
Annual Service Academy Day
Calling on all 7-12th graders to join me at this year's annual Service Academy Day on April 20th!
This event will host representatives from each of the five U.S. Service Academies who will provide detailed presentations about their respective branch institutions.
It’s a great chance to learn more about all the opportunities serving in the military has to offer.
Please RSVP to [email protected] or call 252-931-1003!
Recognizing Dr. David Tayloe in the Congressional Record
I was honored to recognize an incredible physician, Dr. David Tayloe, in the Congressional Record for his commitment to community healthcare and his passionate advocacy for children.
Dr. Tayloe has led an extraordinary life of servant leadership. Be it caring for children at his practice at Goldsboro Pediatrics, spearheading pediatric advocacy in the North Carolina General Assembly, or serving as President of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has spent his life caring for the less fortunate at home and abroad. I am in all of his stewardship.
Thank you for being such an incredible leader in Eastern North Carolina. We are lucky to have you!
Recognizing Dr. Jasper Lewis' Leadership
I had the privilege of recognizing Pitt County leader, and my good friend, Dr. Jasper Lewis.
He recently earned the title of Greenville-Pitt Chamber of Commerce 2023 Legacy Award. Dr. Lewis's commitment to his dental practice, community, and family continues to inspire all around him.
Congratulations on this accomplishment and thank you for all you do for our community!
Returning to Davidson College
It was a pleasure to speak at my alma mater, Davidson College, and its College Republicans, faculty and community members about the pressing issues facing our country, including the importance of defending free speech. I'm very proud of these bright young minds for being so engaged in the civic process at their age!
This was my first time returning to Davidson College’s campus since coming to Congress. I had a very nice and respectful meeting with the new President, Doug Hicks. I was very encouraged to hear of his new vision forward. We agreed that the position of College President should NOT be a one that pushes a political agenda on students, faculty or staff. It should be one that is apolitical and fosters respectful debate from all persuasions to feel comfortable speaking their minds.
Go Wildcats!
Presenting Juan Eric Cantu's Family with Flag
Juan Eric Cantu honorably served our nation as a member of the U.S. Army during the war in Vietnam and founded the G.I Joe Living Military History Museum in Kinston.
It’s individuals like Sgt. Cantu who make America the greatest nation in the world.
I was honored to present a flag flown over the Capitol to honor him and thank his wife for her service to our nation and community.
