Friend,
Expanding the Child Tax Credit would give a vital boost to 16 million
children in lower-income families struggling to make ends meet. It would
immediately lift 400,00 kids out of poverty.(1)
The U.S. of House Representatives has already overwhelmingly passed this
bipartisan bill, but the Senate is stalling.
Now, with Tax Day rapidly approaching, we need to demand the Senate pass
this measure right now so that kids and poor families can reap the
benefits ASAP.

Child poverty is a policy choice.
We know this because when Congress let the pandemic-era expansion of the
Child Tax Credit expire, nearly 6 million kids were plunged back into
poverty.(2)
Now, lawmakers have a chance to right their wrong by expanding the credit
starting with Tax Year 2023 and making it more accessible to lower-income
families with little or no tax liability.
Doing so would boost 400,000 children over the poverty line for 2023. By
2025, that figure would rise to half a million.(3)
This is a broadly bipartisan measure, receiving more than 80 percent of
the vote in the U.S. House of Representatives.(4) But now, Senate
Republicans are balking, and time is running for the Senate to get the
measure to President Biden’s desk before Tax Day.
Frankly, this door is about to close, and we don’t know when it will open
again.
