John -- Our leadership team and candidates at BNC wanted to take a moment to say, simply, thank you.
We are overwhelmed with gratitude. When the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic began to set in, we knew it would have an impact on families across the country, on our families, our healthcare system and deep and lasting impacts to jobs and the economy we depend on.
We knew, in these times especially, but any time, every dollar given makes a huge impact for us and means so much.
Our top priority was to help our candidates navigate their campaigns safely and reach voters remotely. This means adapting their campaigns to find new ways of reaching voters. Knocking doors may be out of the question, for now, but elections are still on the horizon. The 2020 elections will impact us for years to come.
This pandemic has highlighted many issues that already existed due to inequality, poverty, an unjust healthcare system, and an incompetent president. The Covid-19 pandemic will place a burden on people and the economy that will take years to recover from, in ways we can’t predict now.
In other words, there will not be a pre-COVID-19 world. We understand that we can’t go back to an economy where the majority of American families are one paycheck away from losing their housing, food and basic necessities. Where healthcare in the United States was treated as a commodity, not a human right for all.
Where we’ve been, and where we are going is why it’s critical that we elect more progressives to the House and Senate in 2020.
So, thank you. Thank you, because, in spite of the uncertainty of these times, you stood by us with your hope, your support, your donations, spreading the word, and stepping up to volunteer for Brand New Congress and our candidates.
We are deeply grateful to all of you who are fighting for a better future and working to elect a Congress of the people, for the people, and by the people.
