Hello,
For months, President Trump compared COVID-19 to the flu. He downplayed the threat Americans faced, suggested it would all be over soon, and failed to take action that would ensure Americans would have access to vital tests and medical equipment.
Now thousands of Americans have died from COVID-19, and well over 200,000 cases have been confirmed across the nation.
According to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, though, it's not President Trump's fault -- it's the fault of Democrats like Bob who dared to hold President Trump accountable through impeachment.
Our health care workers and first responders are risking their lives, reusing personal protective equipment they need to stay safe. Hospitals across the nation are struggling to keep up with new cases, not knowing when they'll run out of ventilators. Millions of Americans are isolated in their homes, including seniors and at-risk individuals, worried that the failure of our President to take swift action will prolong the need for social distancing. Millions of others have already lost their jobs or are at-risk of being laid-off as this crisis drags on.
For Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to use this moment to try to shift the blame and score points with the President is outrageous and irresponsible.
While Senate Majority Leader McConnell and others play political games, Bob continues to work toward finding solutions.
Bob is working right now to ensure that every American has access to life-saving care, that our health care providers have access to the equipment they need, and that no one will have to suffer financially because they need testing or treatment for COVID-19.
As Bob works for you, we're counting on you to do your part:
* Stay at home as much as possible.
* Wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds at a time.
* Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, and nose.
* Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
* If you're able, make a contribution to groups serving your community or donate blood.
* If you're in a low-risk group, volunteer to help others.
Allowing Senate Majority Leader McConnell and President Trump to shift the blame for repeated delays in action would set a dangerous precedent and allow them to excuse future inaction. We can't let ourselves, our neighbors, and our families be fooled as we work together to survive this crisis.
While Senate Majority Leader McConnell and others try to exploit this moment to divide, we must be united.
Thank you, and stay well,
Team Casey
