"Biden Administration Announces Rule Aimed at Expanding Electric Vehicles"
- The New York Times, 3/20/24
This is a big step, team.
The Biden administration’s new emissions standards for cars are a big deal. The rule will help ensure that a decade from now, the majority of new passenger cars and light trucks sold in the U.S. will be all-electric or hybrids.
This action will lower costs for drivers and support good jobs manufacturing clean cars and trucks. It will also make our air safer to breathe and bring the planet closer to climate safety – transportation is the biggest driver of emissions right now.
Under Democratic leadership, America is setting an example for the world to follow. But you can bet that the fossil-fuel-funded GOP will do its damnedest to undo our progress if Trump gets back into the White House and he has a Republican Congress eager to let Big Oil call the shots.
I’ve been a “persistent, relentless” voice for climate progress in the Senate for a long time, but my work is far from over.
So I’m asking: Will you contribute $5 to support my re-election campaign so I can return to Washington to defeat the fossil fuel industry’s climate-denial apparatus and lead our planet to safety?
