The Environmental Protection Agency has decided it will no longer protect the environment, friend.

The EPA recently announced it would suspend all enforcement of environmental laws for the indefinite future — abandoning its mission at the request of oil and gas companies. Then it rolled back one of our nation’s strongest attempts to combat climate change: the clean car standards enacted by President Obama. Director of the EPA and former coal lobbyist Andrew Wheeler is essentially using the coronavirus pandemic as an excuse to bail out his polluting friends.

Fossil fuel industries now have an open invitation to pollute our air and water without consequence, further endangering people’s health and exacerbating the climate crisis. Add your name if you think the EPA needs to do its job and protect our communities.

Thanks to Donald Trump putting Wheeler in charge, the EPA has completely relinquished its authority to protect our environment and our communities from pollution and climate change. Air pollution has historically been concentrated in low-income communities and communities of color which has caused an increased rate of respiratory issues, making these communities even more vulnerable to COVID-19. By suspending its enforcement of pollution restrictions and rolling back the clean car standards, the EPA is turning its back on the communities most in need.

Little by little, Mr. Trump’s disastrous deregulatory agenda has stripped our basic environmental and public health protections. And after he meets with the CEOs of Big Oil companies tomorrow, it will only get worse. We cannot stand by and let the EPA hand over complete control to corporations.
Tell the EPA to do its job
In this fight,
Tom
