Yet again, EPA is creating a costly 'solution' for a problem that doesn’t exist. Why? Because the radical environmentalists of the Biden Administration believe modern science and civilization are a scourge, not a benefit.
The latest rule from the EPA requires burdensome reporting requirements on facilities working with and housing hazardous substances. This rule is unnecessary because the facilities that would be covered by this rule have a proven record of incident prevention already - there has been an 80 percent reduction in incidents required to be reported to the EPA, proving that risk management efforts are already effective under current regulations. This unnecessary rule will increase compliance costs for facilities, and estimates put the total annual cost of this rule at over $250 million.
That is why I introduced legislation to block the new regulation, so the EPA cannot burden facilities - including those along the Houston Ship Channel - with unnecessary reporting requirements.
