Hello,
Earlier this week, we faced our most critical FEC fundraising deadline to-date. We needed to raise $2.5 million before March 31 to fund our campaign to defeat Mitch McConnell, but unfortunately, we fell about $230,000 short.
To be honest, we weren't surprised. New unemployment numbers out today show that just last week, over 6.6 million new Americans filed for unemployment. That's over 10 million now since the coronavirus pandemic started. And since we rely 100% on grassroots donations to fund our movement to Ditch Mitch, of course we understand that many of our grassroots donors can no longer afford to be as generous as they once were.
So, to be perfectly clear: If you are one of those 10+ million Americans unemployed right now, we humbly ask that you stop reading this email, because we are about to ask for a donation to help Amy McGrath defeat Mitch McConnell. And it just wouldn't feel right to us if you feel compelled to give but simply can't afford to.
If you're fortunate enough to be in a position where you are still financially able to chip in a little bit, please allow us a moment to explain why we need your support now more than ever.
Yesterday, Mitch McConnell launched another $434,000 in new TV ads in Kentucky - on top of the $570,000 he had already been running. And so Mitch is currently, at this very moment, running over $1 million in ads attacking Amy McGrath and lying about how he personally fought for working families in the coronavirus relief bill.
This is how Mitch McConnell plans to win: Spending millions upon millions of dollars blanketing the state in TV ads using money he's taken from the special interests and corporate PACs he actually works for. And unfortunately, because that's where he gets his money, Mitch's fundraising hasn't slowed down one bit.
We have a plan to fight back, and we have a plan to win. You see, Mitch McConnell has never been more vulnerable than he is right now. Two new polls show the race is a tie between McConnell and McGrath, and even Nate Silver now says he thinks Amy can win. That's why Mitch is panicking and spending over $1 million on TV this early.
And that's why we're emailing you today, and that's why we're asking if you can chip in $5 or more right now (or whatever you can afford). We need to close at least some of this fundraising gap if we're going to be able to actually defeat Mitch McConnell, take back the Senate, and restore some sanity to Washington.
We've extended our deadline to raise the remaining $230,000 we need to fund our efforts, but because we rely entirely on grassroots donors like you, we've got nowhere else to turn:
Please, if you can afford to (and ONLY if you can afford to), will you click here and give $5 or more right now - whatever amount you can afford to spare - so that we can hit this goal, help Amy McGrath defeat Mitch McConnell, and take back the Senate?

If there's one thing this pandemic can teach us, it's that we're stronger when we work together. And that strength is what will power our grassroots movement to victory when we defeat Mitch McConnell this November.
Thank you for doing what you can,
