Tell the States:
"Implement voluntary Vote by Mail this Election Day to strengthen our democracy and protect all of us―particularly older voters and people with compromised immune systems―during the pandemic."

John,
The botched response to the COVID-19 pandemic makes it clear: Our leaders are failing us.
Donald Trump spent critical months dithering, while publicly calling the pandemic a hoax. Instead of showing leadership in the Senate, Mitch McConnell took a 3-day weekend to party with Brett Kavanaugh while the country shutdown. Both are on the ballot this November―but how can we safely vote?
In-person voting is inherently risky in a pandemic. Many poll workers are older. And many polling locations are in senior centers. Holding an in-person election in the midst of a pandemic would put all of our citizens at risk, particularly older people and those with compromised immune systems.
That’s why we need states to act NOW to prepare to hold November’s elections by mail!
Click here to join Social Security Works and our allies in calling on state governments to implement Vote by Mail for this year’s presidential election!
We know that when more people vote, Social Security wins. That’s because Social Security is a universally beloved program that the American people want to protect and expand. So, the more accessible we can make voting for everyone, the better chance we have of electing Social Security champions.
In states that have already enacted Vote by Mail, they’re seeing higher voter turnouts as a result.
Instead of mandating that voters show up, in person on Election Day, or requiring voters to pledge that they are unavailable on Election Day in order to receive an absentee ballot, let’s call on all states to make Vote by Mail accessible to all!
Sign the petition to all state governments to implement Vote by Mail to strengthen our democracy and protect all of us―particularly older voters and people with compromised immune systems―during the pandemic.
Every day that Donald Trump is president is another day that we’re on defense, protecting our earned benefits from relentless attacks. It’s critical that we make voting more accessible this election year to take back the White House and the Senate on November 3rd!
Thank you,
Alex Lawson Social Security Works
