Sen. Britt introduces legislation expanding maternal healthcare access

Alabama U.S. Senator Katie Britt joined a group of fellow lawmakers on Wednesday in introducing a bill that would expand maternal healthcare access in rural areas across the country. The legislation, the Rural Obstetrics Readiness Act, increases overall support for rural health care facilities providing urgent obstetric care to expectant or current mothers.

Britt calls for classified briefing on the increasing threats from ISIS

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt believes the Senate needs to more informed about the rising national security threat from ISIS.

 

Britt joined Sen. Lindsey Graham in a letter to Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell requesting a classified, all-member briefing on the increasing threats to the homeland from radical Islamic terror groups, including ISIS-K, an offshoot of ISIS that exists primarily in Afghanistan.

Sen. Britt joins dyslexia education roundtable, shares praise for UA’s nationally-recognized language therapy program

U.S. Senator Katie Britt visited the University of Alabama, her alma mater, last week to participate in a roundtable discussion about dyslexia education and the school’s CALT program. An estimated 20% of Americans have dyslexia.

 

“This program not only helps students, but helps other teachers understand the tools and innovation that are out there and the science that supports it, so that they can take what they’ve learned back to their communities and change the trajectory of children’s lives,” Sen. Britt said.

Katie Britt, Tim Scott demand transparency from Biden following release of additional Iran sanction waivers

A few weeks after U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) raised the alarm at her D.C. update in Huntsville about the lack of transparency and unwillingness by the Biden administration to hold Iran accountable for their state-sponsored terrorism, President Joe Biden, his Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, and Secretary of State Antony Blinkin have recently made the decision to renew yet another Iran sanctions waiver, according to Britt.

 

Britt, U.S. Sen. Tim Scott and a host of other colleagues announced Thursday they had sent the Biden administration a letter protesting the move and demanding transparency on the issue.
