Daily Docket — Friday, April 5

Here are some updates.

  • Pro-voter nonprofit groups moved to defend Michigan's absentee ballot system from a lawsuit filed by the Republican National Committee (RNC). National Republicans want the state to adopt stricter rules for verifying signatures on absentee ballots ahead of the 2024 elections.

  • According to Democracy Docket's case tracker, the state with the most active voting rights cases is Arizona. But over 80% of the current lawsuits in the Grand Canyon State are aiming to restrict ballot access. Learn more about these cases here.

  • Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose (R) has lurched to the right, rigged maps and tried to undermine majority rule all in an attempt to advance his political career. But Ohio's democracy has paid the ultimate price, argues contributor Katy Shanahan in her latest. Read it here.

Here’s what’s happening tomorrow.
