Hey John,
The recent Department of Labor (DOL) independent contractor rule was pushed into effect by President Biden’s team despite our loud opposition.
This rule, which has the potential to devastate the livelihoods of millions of self-employed workers across the United States, must be stopped.
The good news? We have a chance to do just that through Congress overruling this Bidenomics labor rule.
I strongly support the efforts to repeal this rule through the Congressional Review Act (CRA). U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy (LA) and U.S. Representative Kevin Kiley (CA) have introduced resolutions (S.J. Res 63 and H.J. Res 116, respectively) to rescind this rule, and it is imperative that Congress acts swiftly to pass these resolutions. | | | | | |
The new DOL rule has a potential chilling effect on businesses and workers who fear regulatory scrutiny and reclassification risks. The rule could ultimately lead to fewer employment opportunities and harm individual workers and the wider economy.
It is essential to recognize the vital role that independent contractors play in our economy. They include gig economy workers, freelancers, and self-employed entrepreneurs who contribute significantly to innovation and job creation.
Independent contracting provides flexibility for working parents, individuals with disabilities, and those seeking to balance personal and professional life needs. I urge you to join me in opposing the DOL independent contractor rule and supporting the Congressional Review Act resolutions to repeal it. Together, we can protect the rights and livelihoods of independent workers and ensure a thriving economy for all.
