Republicans want to cut Social Security benefits by raising the retirement

This is how nonsensical our current tax system is — and how much it favors
millionaires and billionaires. Right now, if someone makes $10 million per
year and another person makes $160,000 per year, they both contribute the
same amount of money to Social Security. Why? Because of a ridiculous cap
on Social Security taxes. In other words, a loophole for the rich.

Bernie’s Social Security Expansion bill would get rid of this tax loophole
for the rich, raise taxes on the ultra-wealthy AND increase Social
Security benefits. It’s a clear win for economic justice and working-class
people.

Republicans have been trying to cut Social Security for decades.
Meanwhile, Bernie’s been fighting to protect Social Security for decades,
since he was elected to Congress in 1990. We won’t stop fighting for the
social safety net that we all should have in the richest country in the
world.
