Tinker Air Force Base (AFB) is expanding cybersecurity and software capabilities to combat emerging threats. Thank you to Lt. Gen. Stacey Hawkins, Brig. Gen. Brian Moore, and Blade Diagnostics Director Stephen Gray for taking the time to discuss force readiness, advanced manufacturing, and F-135 propulsion and engine modernization.
I receive an important update from Midwest City Mayor Matt Dukes, City Manager Tim Lyon, and other city leadership on some of the city’s pressing issues, including economic development plans, and aging wastewater infrastructure. We also talked about the vital relationship between the city and Tinker AFB, and they shared their mission to improve the quality of life for all city residents, Airmen, and military families.
I also stopped by Rose State College (RSC) for a meeting with President Jeanie Webb, RSC Foundation VP Cindy Mikeman, and RSC Foundation Director Adam Bush to discuss RSC’s new 4-year degree program in cybersecurity and their workforce development priorities. I visited RSC’s Tanenbaum Center for Aerospace and Cybersecurity to learn more about how RSC is graduating hundreds of career-ready students to meet Oklahoma’s growing defense industry needs.
Tomcat Aviation is a family-owned Department of Defense (DOD) subcontractor and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified repair station in Midwest City that services jet engines such as the F-135 and F-119. I met with Tomcat Aviation President John Coates and his staff to hear about how their 57 employees are overhauling aircraft engines to promote readiness for our most critical warplanes and tour of the repair facility.
I hosted a Coffee & Conversations event in Coweta on Thursday with the Coweta Chamber and Wagoner Chamber. We had an awesome turnout. Thank you to those who came out and participated in the event. I spoke on my background, family, and faith, and took questions ranging from appropriations and the ongoing crisis at our southern border.
April is Child Abuse Awareness Month. On Wednesday, I had the honor of visiting The Parent Child Center of Tulsa and meeting with CEO Melanie Anderegg. The Parent Child Center's mission is to help prevent child abuse and help parents, supporting every family that has a child in Tulsa County. I could not think of a more noble cause. Thank you all for the work you do every day.
