John,

Our nation and the entire world has been facing tremendous challenges, and sadly, we are not out of the woods yet. The way we do basic, everyday things has changed dramatically. Every day brings new questions and difficulties, but we are getting through it -- together.

As a Congressman, how I talk with constituents and promote my agenda has been flipped on its head. Instead of attending in-person events and knocking on doors, we’re on the phone, and making use of email and social media more than ever before.

We are in unprecedented times, but it’s these extraordinary times that make me surer than ever that our values and beliefs are worth fighting for. What if National Republicans had succeeded in repealing the Affordable Care Act? What if workers' rights had been rolled back instead of defended? These policy victories were important, and having voices in Washington that are fighting for the everyday American and not the huge corporate conglomerate has never been more critical.

That’s why I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being in this fight with me.

John -- There’s a lot out there to be understandably discouraged about. But I have been truly encouraged by how everyday folks are standing up and becoming a part of the solution.

To all those who are on the frontlines of this crisis, our doctors, nurses, and essential workers who are keeping our shelves stocked and deliveries coming, and to those of you who are merely following CDC guidelines and self-isolating -- thank you.

I promise to stay in contact with you through every medium that I can. The only way we are going to get through this is together. And I know we can do it.
