The priorities of the majority party at the Capitol do not align with the needs of Minnesotans. After turning the historic surplus into a 1.5 billion dollar deficit it's time to focus on the core functions of good government. Items such as roads, bridges, education, and public safety should be the top of this list.

The Hormel Institute was at the capitol this week to advocate for the Minnesota Bioimaging Center (MBiC) and the expansion of their bioimaging capabilities. Through collaborates with the University of Minnesota and Mayo Clinic this center expands STEM education for our area and the whole state.

Colonel Jesse Carlson (front row, left) has organized current and past military members of the Asian & Pacific Islander (API) community to honor their service as we approach the 50 year calibration of the end of the Vietnam conflict.

Emma Yu is the founder of API Youth Voices and a fierce advocate for her community.

Events this Weekend

It's opening night on the new Blooming Prairie High School stage. Their production of Oklahoma runs all weekend and you can get tickets at the door. BP High School Musical
Also in Blooming Prairie on Saturday is the Education Foundation fundraiser auction. Great auction items, fun games, face paintings, money raffle, lucky ticket candy bars and more, all to support the Blooming Prairie schools. Blooming Prairie Education Foundation
Rose Creek Spring Festival is Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 with an egg hunt to kick off the event. The easter bunny will also be in attendance along with more games and prizes. Rose Creek Spring Fling
Hayfield also kicks off their spring musical this weekend with shows at 7pm on Friday and Saturday, and a 2pm matinee on Sunday. Hayfield Events Calendar
To top off the events is the Riverside Figure Skating Club's Let's Glow Skating Show on Saturday at 4:00 and Sunday at 2:00. If you're in the Austin area you don't want to miss this dazzling event. Let's Glow Skating
