John -

When seeing headlines like this, it can be hard to know what to do.

The truth is that last year, there were 28 extreme climate disasters that
caused 253 deaths and cost more than $57.6 billion in damage — setting an
all-time record.^1

From the wildfires in Hawaii that devastated Maui, to Hurricane Idalia
crashing into Florida, and the severe hailstorm in Minnesota — climate
disasters are hitting with escalating frequency across the globe and will
only continue to increase as long as we keep pumping carbon into the air.

In honor of Earth Month, we’re sounding the alarm to Congress and asking
for your help to amplify this urgent call to action.

[ [link removed] ]John, will
you sign our letter telling Congress to fight for the just transition to
renewable energy we need — and ensure that the benefits flow equitably to
communities most impacted by climate-related disasters?

After the hottest year in history, 2024 has already seen a catastrophic
fire season in the southern hemisphere, and one of the warmest winters on
record.^2

But the damage is not being felt equally. Communities that have
historically been overburdened by pollution from fossil fuels —
disproportionately low-income communities and communities of color —
continue to bear the brunt of these disasters.

Too many lives have been lost and too many communities have been
irrevocably damaged. As elected leaders, our representatives in Congress
have an obligation to protect us and prevent future weather disasters from
happening — and that requires a swift and just transition to renewable
energy.

[ [link removed] ]Please sign our letter to Congress now demanding a just transition this
Earth Month.

Thank you for staying in this fight.

With determination,

- Team 350
