Dear John:
Traveling around the 7th District is one of my favorite parts of this job. Visiting with businesses, local governments, and constituents in the district is the best way for me to go back to Washington, D.C. armed with the knowledge and insight to pass legislation that works for western Minnesota.
Recently, I was in Hutchinson, where I got to meet with the Chamber of Commerce, toured the 3M facility, and met with the mayor, city administrator, and other community leaders.
I really enjoyed hearing more about the history of 3M and about how the company impacts the community.

Like so many communities across western Minnesota, there is a struggle with the workforce, adequate housing needs, and childcare. The Investing in Rural America Act, which I introduced earlier this Congress, addresses these concerns. The bill would attract private sector investment in critical community facilities like hospitals, childcare centers, and senior care centers.

In Stevens County, I met with county commissioners and staff, and met with the mayor and councilmembers from the city of Morris. I am impressed with the creative ways the county is working on developing solutions to provide more childcare in the area, like their new childcare pods.
I also enjoyed my tour of the North Central Soil Conservation Research Laboratory, and seeing the research and innovation they are using in farming practices.
