John,

I wanted to reach out to express my gratitude to so many people.

First, I want to thank YOU for your support during our end-of-quarter fundraising period. Together, our campaign will carry on strong through our primary and all the way to Election Day.

Next, I want to send my sincere appreciation for all of the folks working on the frontlines during this pandemic.

Our doctors, nurses, janitors, grocery store clerks, delivery workers, and so many others are putting themselves in harm’s way to help everyone else get through this pandemic.

Some unsung heroes of this crisis are local restaurant owners and staff. They are doing their best to keep their businesses afloat by providing fantastic take-out and delivery meals, even as their industry takes a hit from this crisis. I know that cooking every meal isn’t always my favorite thing to do -- I am so incredibly thankful for all their work.

If you can, please join me in supporting local Iowa businesses on Take-Out Tuesdays and sharing what you’re thankful for on Thankful Thursdays. I’ll be highlighting some of the great local joints (like Sneaky’s in Sioux City) that I go to for my meals, and I’d love for you to do the same! I’ll also be posting what I’m thankful for as we’re all trying our best to make it through these uncertain times. I’d love you to join me in sharing what you’re thankful for.

Post your meal from a restaurant in Iowa on Twitter or Instagram, tag me (@JDScholten), and we’ll promote that local business on Tuesdays! AND share what you’re thankful for on Thursdays, tag me, and we’ll share it to spread some joy in our communities.

It’s so important that we look out for each other.

Thank you for being great neighbors and supporters -- I’m glad we have one another to lean on.

Standing Tall for All,

J.D. Scholten
