Good morning Young Democrats,

Are you or any other Young Democrats you know running to be district level delegate to the DNC Convention in Chicago? If so, before 2pm TODAY, Friday, April 5, 2024, email CYD Political Director Nav Gurm (mailto:[email protected]?subject=DNC%20Delegate%20Endorsement&body=) and let us know so that CYD can consider endorsing you for delegate at tonight’s CYD Political Affairs Committee meeting at our 2024 Post-Primary Organizing Retreat ([link removed]) in Lake Tahoe! You must be a current California Young Democrat member to be considered for CYD’s endorsement for delegate.

Speaking of Retreat: it starts today in beautiful Lake Tahoe! It is unseasonably cold and a little snowy heading North to our Retreat destination; however, the snow is light now and forecast to stop later today, and we expect by this afternoon roads should be clear, and chains not required. Please anticipate your trip taking longer than expected, drive safely and slowly, and check road conditions on Highway 50 (or 80) using the CalTrans website to confirm chains are no longer required ([link removed]) . At this moment, chains are required to be on cars from Kyburz to Meyers (about a 20 mile stretch of Highway 50), but there was a lot of snow dropped last night, and CalTrans workers are busy right now plowing the roads to improve road conditions for all travelers. As the workers finish clearing the snow, the day warms up, and the storm passes, chain controls will eventually be removed.

I am so excited to see so many of you at the 2024 CYD Post-Primary Organizing Retreat presented by the National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW) and the State Building & Construction Trades Council of California later today!

You can view the full Retreat agenda HERE ([link removed]) , which includes a Friday night Karaoke Party with the CYD API Caucus and California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, as well as receptions both Friday and Saturday nights (hosted beer/wine for those 21+), a breakfast with a primary election results recap by data-expert, Vice President of Political Data Inc., Paul Mitchell, a buffet luncheon and labor union panel including the Immediate Past President of NUHW, Sal Rosselli, the President of the State Building & Construction Trades of CA, Chris Hannan, and the Executive Director of the Orange County Labor Federation, Gloria Alvarado, as well as numerous trainings and workshops, CYD Olympic games, and much more!

Thank you so much to all of our generous sponsors, presenters and volunteers, for whom without we would not be able to have a such a great Retreat planned!

Please drive safely and slowly, and I hope to see you soon!

Democratically yours,

Giovanni Chavez

CYD President
