Lupe Gonzalo, farmworker and CIW staff member: “Continuing to expand is quite urgent. It’s quite important because only this path of the Fair Food Program has made a difference for thousands of workers.”
A few days ago, we announced a partnership [[link removed]] with Spanish farmworkers to explore building the first-ever Worker-driven Social Responsibility program in the EU.
Today we have another exciting piece of news to share: MacKenzie Scott’s Yield Giving has announced that the Fair Food Standards Council (FFSC) – the third-party monitoring organization responsible for enforcing the Coalition of Immokalee Workers’ Fair Food Program (FFP) – will receive a grant in the amount of $2 million to support the domestic and international expansion of the Presidential Medal-winning human rights program! The grant is part of Yield Giving’s mission “to enable individuals and families to achieve substantive improvement in their well-being through foundational resources.”
Fox 4 sent a news team to the CIW’s office in Immokalee to cover the $2 million grant. Check out their write-up below, and make sure to watch their broadcast segment by clicking here [[link removed]] !

WHAT DOES $2 MILLION BUY? Immokalee group says better wages & working conditions
The money in the form of a private grant is helping the Coalition of Immokalee Workers expand their Fair Food Program.
IMMOKALEE, Fla. — Just what exactly does $2 million buy today?
Certainly, a lot of things. But Immokalee’s own Community Correspondent Ella Rhoades found out it’s buying education and hope, possibly for farm workers around the world, through the Fair Food Program.
“Es seguir expandiendo es bastante urgente. Es bastante importante porque solo este camino de del programa de comida justa ha hecho un cambio en miles de trabajadores. (Continuing to expand is quite urgent. It’s quite important because only this path of the Fair Food Program has made a difference for thousands of workers).”
The Fair Food Program is run by the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) and the Fair Food Standards Council. In the words of the program’s website, the Fair Food Program is “a partnership among farmers, farmworkers, and retail food companies that aims to ensure humane wages and working conditions for the people who make our food.”
