Legislative Update
Congratulations to Dr. Lisa Germscheid [ [link removed] ]?on her retirement after 34 years of service to the Little Falls community. As the first woman doctor in the city, she has blazed a trail for many to follow and has touched countless lives. Best wishes to Dr. Germscheid as she enjoys her retirement and time with her family.
Construction on the Democrat?s State Office Building expansion and renovation is well underway as we listen to the constant construction sounds all day. When finished the nearly three-quarter of a billion-dollar project will be the new home for the Minnesota House of Representatives offices and hearing rooms. This palace for politicians is just another example of democrat?s irresponsible and unaffordable spending.
This week I drafted a resolution that states our support to bring Minnesota in line with the U.S. Burial Equity for Guards and Reserves Act. Despite their service, these citizen-soldiers, who have been honorably discharged, do not currently receive the burial rights they deserve in Minnesota. Therefore, the resolution urges the commissioner of Veterans Affairs to extend burial rights to Reserve component personnel as allowed under federal law. These men and women absolutely deserve to be interred in a place of honor here in Minnesota.
The Minnesota Fishing Museum and Hall of Fame provides programming and educational initiatives that celebrate the state?s rich outdoor culture and heritage. I have authored legislation to authorize grant funding to the museum. This financial support underscores the importance of preserving and promoting Minnesota?s fishing legacy, ensuring that future generations can appreciate and engage with this aspect of the state?s identity.
This evening is the Minnesota Fishing Museum and Hall of Fame?s 16th?annual Night With the Fishing Pros Fundraiser [ [link removed] ]. Join the community at Rice Creek Hunting, Recreation, and Event Center for an evening of fun, learning, and philanthropy, featuring fishing legends who will share their expertise. It?s not just about the thrill of fishing; it?s an opportunity to support a great cause while mingling with the pros. The event runs from 4:00 pm to 9:30 pm, ensuring ample time for guests to enjoy the activities and the company of fellow fishing enthusiasts.
