OJJDP Observes National Child Abuse Prevention Month

President Biden proclaimed April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Join OJJDP in honoring those who work to support children, strengthen families, and raise awareness about child abuse prevention.

OJJDP funds programs, training, and technical assistance that are critical to the intervention and investigation of child abuse and neglect cases. In fiscal year 2023, the Office awarded $39 million under its Victims of Child Abuse Act Program, including more than $35 million for Children's Advocacy Centers, $3 million in training and technical assistance for child abuse professionals, and $1 million for child abuse training for judicial and court personnel.  The Office also awarded nearly $9 million under its Strategies to Support Children Exposed to Violence program, including more than $7 million to program sites plus $1 million in training and technical assistance awards
