Jack, sign the petition: Ratify the Equal Rights Amendment.
SIGN THE PETITION
In January 2020, Virginia became the 38th and last state needed to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA)--a proposed amendment to the U.S. Constitution designed to guarantee equal legal rights for all American citizens, regardless of sex.
When Virginia became the 38th state to ratify the ERA, all constitutional requirements for the ERA to become the 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution were satisfied. Yet, the ERA has still not been added to the Constitution.
What happened? Prior to ratification, Congress had set an arbitrary deadline for states’ ratification votes. As a result, the ERA’s ratification was blocked.
Sign the petition: Ratify the Equal Rights Amendment.

Ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment is about enshrining equality in the U.S. Constitution. It would provide new avenues to push for pay equality, strengthen existing laws to protect survivors of gender-based violence, and influence the legal tone and decisions regarding gender equality, positively influencing discrimination cases brought forth over time. As the ERA states, “Equality of Rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of sex.”
Right now, Congress can get the job done by passing resolutions to remove the deadline and send the ERA to the archivist to publish it as the 28th Amendment.
Sign the petition to Congress: Ensure the ERA is ratified.
