On Thursday, April 2, Oswego Village President Troy Parlier signed an additional executive order to relax sign regulations and due dates for fees for Oswego’s small businesses as the COVID-19 crisis continues.
“We are continually looking for ways to help our businesses through these times,” Village President Troy Parlier said. “We hope these changes will have a real impact in helping our businesses continue to advertise and improve their cash flow at this critical time.”
Essential businesses that are still operating during the State of Illinois’ Stay at Home Order are now
permitted to use more temporary signs to inform residents that their services are available. The executive order suspends local ordinances that prohibit most temporary and portable signs in front of businesses.
The following deadlines for taxes and fees for businesses have been extended:
- Liquor license renewal payments are now not due until Dec. 31, 2020.
- Food and Beverage taxes for the month of March are now not due until May 31, 2020.
- Hotel/Motel taxes owed are now not due until May 31, 2020.
TV Recycling Event postponed
The executive order also postpones the following events and meetings:
- The annual TV recycling event, originally scheduled for April 25, is postponed. A new date will be announced as soon as information becomes available.
- Administrative Adjudication, originally scheduled for April 23, will be postponed, and all cases will be continued to May 28.
In light of the State of Illinois’ extension of the statewide Stay at Home Order until April 30, all Village orders related to the crisis are also extended. That means suspended water shutoffs, waived late fees, closed facilities, and regulations related to alcohol sales, delivery noise, overnight parking and many others are extended to April 30.
