They're not "homeless camps," they're government-sponsored slums. - The homeless deserve real help, not help in keeping their addictions.
Parks and streets are for public use, not private living.

Government-Sponsored Rivers of Trash in Dallas |
|
|
On April 2nd the Keep Dallas Safe team visited a vagrant camp in City Council District 6, represented by Omar Narvaez. Placed under a bridge where “Joe’s Creek” runs perpendicular to the road, we discovered massive piles of garbage and people living in unhealthy conditions.
The creek has become polluted with trash, clothing, bicycles, fast food wrappers, tires, car parts, and human waste. One of the vagrants living in these conditions even admitted to being high on illegal substances. Conditions are worsening in Dallas as the City Council ignores real solutions to the vagrancy crisis.

Over 57% of residents in Dallas say they feel unsafe in Dallas’s public spaces. City leaders focus on supporting these slums with public tax dollars rather than dealing with the concerns of their constituents. The vagrants squatting in these public spaces are mentally and physically sick and in need of real help. Yet, our city council insists on keeping its failed "housing first" policy in place. This policy ignores the obvious issues and only provides a temporary roof that fuels the problem. The fact is, vagrants should not steal these public spaces for their private use. It's unsafe for everyone. Keeping vagrants out of these government-sponsored slums is going to take fundamental change from the City. Call your local council member and ask them what they are doing to address Dallas's out-of-control vagrancy and urban camping violations. |

Local Youth Minister Fatally Shot in Dallas
|
Safe streets are a civil right. Unfortunately, horrific tragedies like this story still take place in Dallas. A youth minister working for New Generation Church in Oak Cliff was fatally shot after an altercation. Senseless violence has become the status quo; Dallas must choose a better path forward! Poor Leadership Racks up Nearly $4 Billion in Debt
|
Dallas is currently sitting at $3,700,000,000 in debt. Poor City leadership continues to cause our city to spiral into catastrophe. Dallas now has the highest taxpayer burden for debt compared to any other city in Texas. This is unacceptable! Dallas businesses will leave if city leaders don't get a hold on spending!

High School Student Shot in Broad Daylight |
As City leaders continue to blunder their way through public safety “solutions,” residents are being shot in broad daylight at gas stations. High crime is anti-family and anti-child. Dallas Police Department must increase its force from 3,000 to 4,000 officers ASAP.

District 11 Councilwoman Jaynie Schultz
"Urban Ruins Camp" |
This camp in Jaynie Schultz’s District 11 has been dubbed “Urban Ruins Camp.” This camp is the definition of a slum. Hobbled together by all sorts of trash under the overpass, this vagrant is living a dangerous lifestyle so close to this road. City Council can no longer ignore this issue; violations of the City’s urban camping ban are only getting more brazen. |

District 10 Councilwoman Kathy Stewart
"Northern Reserve Camp" |
This camp in Kathy Stewart’s District 10 has earned the title “Northern Reserve Camp.” This vagrant is in the beginning stages of setting up a camp here. He was napping nearby piles of reclaimed garbage. People should not live like this, especially in the United States. Dallas must choose a better path for its residents that gets these people real help and off the streets! |

District 10 Councilwoman Kathy Stewart
"Hidden Paradise Camp" |
We named this camp in Kathy Stewart’s in District 10, “Hidden Paradise Camp.” This camp can be seen only for a split second if drivers are going the speed limit on this road. The proximity to the road and a strong potential for drug use won’t mix well and could spell disaster. These people need a safe, centralized location for services like the Haven for Hope model.

Mission Statement:
Keep Dallas Safe exists to address crime and homelessness in Dallas with the goal of transforming Dallas into the safest large city in Texas for residents and businesses. We aim to have a City Council that prioritizes crime rate which directly determines the quality of life in Dallas. We do this by fighting against the "defund the police" movement, holding accountable our city leaders' efforts towards lowering district crime rates, and highlighting our city's homelessness problems by pushing for enforcement of the prohibition of urban camping.
