Dear Friends,

I'm writing today to ask for ([link removed]) your support of PBS NewsHour ([link removed]:\Users\lhyson\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.Outlook\6IDVB3SI\%20https\give.newshour.org\page\41294\donate\1%3fea.tracking.id=nh_fye2022_sub_list_e1&appealCode=R2206HE0100001) -- and to help strengthen the future of our news coverage.

We find ourselves again amid a busy news cycle. From the hearings about January 6 to new mass shootings to the Supreme Court’s rulings on guns and abortion, all while the war in Ukraine still rages on and we continue to fight the global pandemic, our reporters have been on the ground bringing you the news you can trust. I must admit, it has not been easy on our staff. The emotional and physical tolls of covering these stories have certainly made an impact. However, we wake up every day and get to work because of our dedication to the NewsHour's mission and our innate motivation to report on the biggest stories of our time.

We also have some things to celebrate. We recently welcomed Laura Barrón-López, our new White House Correspondent, to the team. Laura most recently worked as a White House reporter for Politico and you might recognize her from her many appearances as an analyst on CNN.

We have also been recently honored with several prestigious awards including a prestigious Peabody for our coverage of January 6 and a Covering Climate Now award for our coverage of COP26. We have also recently hit a big milestone with our arts and culture series CANVAS. Since its launch in February of 2019, we have done over 550 pieces featuring 8 different correspondents. It has been wonderful to watch our team be recognized for their hard work and deeply reported stories.
I would be remiss to not mention how incredible it has been to watch our staff come together to bring PBS News Weekend and Washington Week into the fold. We have hired several new staff members to support both shows so we can provide the programs with the same care we give to the NewsHour each night. It has been exciting to watch the NewsHour Productions portfolio grow, and I look forward to our bright future.

To accomplish all we do requires funding and the support of our viewers. I am excited to share that all direct donations to PBS NewsHour will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000 by a Friend of the NewsHour. Will you help us make the most of this unique opportunity?

Your tax-deductible gift ([link removed]) of any amount ([link removed]) will allow us to continue to provide meaningful context and real-world stories that go beyond the day’s headlines. This match is exclusive to direct gifts to PBS NewsHour received by June 30. We hope that you will also consider supporting your local station to receive the many benefits of membership, including access to PBS Passport (see FAQs).
