Tell our elected leaders in Sacramento not to cut funding for the U.C. system

Over the past 20 years demands on the U.C. system have skyrocketed, while funding hasn’t kept pace. Now, the California Legislature is considering cutting funding precisely when U.C. needs it most. We can’t let that happen.

TAKE ACTION: Tell our elected leaders in Sacramento not to cut funding for the U.C. system

In the 2000-01 school year, the state of California provided U.C. with $3.37 billion to serve 185,000 full time equivalent (FTE) undergraduate students. In the following decades, UC enrollment grew, while politicians held funding below 2001 levels for the next 15 years. In the 2020-01 school year, the state of California provided UC with $3.47 billion to serve 289,314 FTE undergraduate students (in 2021 dollars).

Meanwhile tuition was raised by over 150% during that same time period!

In 2022, the Governor agreed to a compact with the U.C. system that would include 5% annual increases to the UC’s general fund through the 2026-2027 school year.

Please sign this letter, urging California’s elected leaders to honor the compact, and continue to support U.C.

The success of our students depends on it.
