The Lincoln Project

Friend,

Ding dong, the spoiler’s gone. After months of failing to find a single person who wanted to run on their “unity ticket,” No Labels is closing up shop on their spoiler bid, and I couldn’t be more delighted.

This venture was dead from the start. We told Nancy Jacobson before No Labels launched this effort that it would fail. We told her that she was just going to help Trump. We told her that this idea was the equivalent of flushing tens of millions of dollars down the toilet. Did she listen? No. She rolled her eyes and did it anyway. And look what happened.

Well, color me not shocked. I mean, let’s call this thing what it really was: a dark money organization designed to help Trump and get back at the Clintons. We’ve written about it, I’ve talked about it on podcasts, and now, we’re watching the aftermath. Months and months of internal disaster, false hope, and pointless candidate searches have doomed this pointless endeavor.

And who’s to blame for taking down No Labels (besides themselves)? The pro-democracy movement. Organizations like The Lincoln Project have worked tirelessly to knock these guys off, and it wasn’t an easy task. They’ve given us plenty of headaches. Like, reporting us to the DOJ for being mean to them on Twitter headaches.

Now that they’re off the radar, we can shift to another undercover pro-Trump effort: RFK Jr. He can talk about not being Trump-loving, but these spoiler organizations fail to understand how American politics work. They aren’t gaining any votes, they’re only taking votes away from President Biden. And from a pro-democracy standpoint, that’s a problem.

Today is a great day for democracy. It’s a great day for President Biden, and it makes our job a little easier going forward. But make no mistake, there is still plenty of work to do. Help us keep pouring it on all the way to the finish line>>
