Folks,
Last week, the Supreme Court heard arguments on the case that could limit access to mifepristone, a medication that is part of a two-drug regimen for terminating unwanted pregnancies.
This case could have repercussions right here in PA-07. More than half of abortions in the state of Pennsylvania are treated with this medication, and Pennsylvania is one of a handful of states that allows medication abortion via telehealth appointment.
One thing is clear, and that is Republicans aren’t stopping after overturning Roe v. Wade. They will go after contraception and family planning (IVF) and enact further restrictions to limit women’s reproductive rights. That’s why we must enact federal legislation to safeguard reproductive rights for women across the country.
We’ve seen what happens when we leave it up to the states and the courts to decide – we’ve seen stories across the country of women having to travel hundreds of miles out of state to access lifesaving care due to extreme legislation, and as long as we don’t enact federal legislation to change it, this will remain the case.
It’s no exaggeration to say abortion is on the ballot this fall. Women deserve the right to bodily autonomy, and we must do everything in our power to protect it. That starts with delivering a pro-choice majority in the House this November.
I’ve already taken steps to introduce a bill to codify IVF, and I will do everything in my power to support legislation to protect a woman’s right to choose. If you’re with me, I hope you’ll join my re-election campaign today to help us protect reproductive rights nationwide:
