In states across the country, Republican legislators are using the
COVID-19 pandemic as a pretext to attack the constitutional right to an
abortion and limit access to reproductive health care.
In states like Texas, Iowa, and Ohio legislators are using emergency
efforts to care for COVID-19 patients as an excuse to completely ban
abortions by categorizing abortions as “non-essential” procedures. And, in
places like Idaho and Kentucky, legislators are trying to introduce and
pass draconian legislation to further restrict abortion access while the
public is focused on COVID-19.
We can’t allow this crisis to be used to eliminate critical access to
reproductive health care — we need your help to fight back against these
cruel, life-threatening attacks.

Reproductive health care is a human right and the right to an abortion is
not up for debate.
With these attacks, Republican legislators are trying to systematically
dismantle access to comprehensive, culturally-competent reproductive care
— which disproportionately impacts people of color and low-income
communities.
Ayanna is going to do everything within her power to guarantee access to
reproductive care for every American, and to shine a light on the
injustices and draconian attacks taking place in state legislatures. We
will not allow the COVID-19 pandemic to be used as a shield to attack
human rights.

declare that abortion is absolutely an essential medical procedure?
