Ruth’s List is excited to announce our latest endorsements – Nadia Combs, Jessica Vaughn, and Lynn Gray, all Democratic women incumbents running for re-election to the Hillsborough County School Board!
🚨 Here’s why this matters – Nadia Combs and Board Vice Chair Jessica Vaughn are on Ron DeSantis’ “school board target list” of school board members around the state that he is targeting to defeat with the help of Republican Florida House Speaker Paul Renner and the founders of Moms for Liberty. DeSantis has deemed over a dozen school board members like Nadia and Jessica as proponents of “woke” ideology that is being used to “indoctrinate” our students in their schools. But we know that all he actually means is they are willing to teach accurate history, believe that LGBTQ+ kids deserve to be safe in our schools, and that the state should invest more in our public schools rather than private and charter schools.

We know that any woman who has found herself a target of Ron DeSantis is doing the exact right thing in Florida right now. Republicans have made significant gains in Hillsborough County, so we will not let them take over the school board, either. The Hillsborough County School Board is our last line of defense in the county, so we are committed to doing everything in our power to help Nadia Combs, Jessica Vaughn, and Lynn Gray.
