Hi John,
Our campaign has huge news! Because of the support and hard work of volunteers, donors, and supporters like you, we surpassed our original goal of $300K in time for the FEC filing deadline.
This achievement is incredibly significant for three reasons:
1. Hitting our fundraising mark puts us on track to defeat Matt Gaetz in November, by ensuring we have the resources our campaign needs to reach those crucial independent and moderate voters in the district.
2. The FEC filings we will soon report to the FEC will be public. That means the media, voters, and the nation will see we raised enough so far to make our race against Matt Gaetz competitive.
3. Everyone said we needed to lower our goal because people would be less likely to give during this economically difficult time. But we believed in our supporters and knew people would step-up when we needed them most. The fact that we surpassed our fundraising goal, despite all that’s going on right now shows our campaign and the public movement to defeat Matt Gaetz is strong.
I am grateful to you and everyone else who helped make this momentous achievement possible. I can’t thank you enough for all your support and work. The fact that our supporters gave what they could during such a financially difficult time, makes our success all the more meaningful.
While this will be the first of many fundraising and grassroots goals our campaign needs to reach in order to stay on track to defeat Matt Gaetz, it’s important to step back and celebrate the victories when they come. And this is certainly a big one.
In solidarity,
Phil
