VIDEO OF THE DAY: Fed up Pete Buttigieg schools Fox News hosts on their own show
The Transportation Dept. secretary was having none of the disingenuous nonsense about electric vehicles being offered up on Fox News and, as usual, absolutely took the talking heads to task for peddling boneheaded garbage lifted straight from the GOP's fossil fuel-soaked playbook.

Michigan cops endorse Trump, who has vowed to pardon Jan. 6 rioters who attacked cops during failed insurrection
In today's edition of "Someone Please Make it Make Sense," the 12,000-member-strong Police Officers Association of Michigan union formally endorsed the failed insurrectionist and serially indicted fraudster for president of the United States, despite his vow to PARDON hundreds of Jan. 6 rioters who violently attacked police officers en masse while storming the US Capitol. Take all the time you need with that. We'll be here to talk about the dire state of law enforcement in America and the need for wholesale, transformational reform in policing when you're ready.

Israel used deadly AI tool to identify 37,000 Hamas targets in blanket bombing campaign
The Israeli military’s brutal bombing campaign in Gaza has been aided by a previously undisclosed AI-powered database, dubbed "Lavender," that at one stage identified 37,000 potential targets based on their apparent links to Hamas, according to intelligence sources involved in the war. Intelligence sources claim that Israeli military officials permitted large numbers of Palestinian civilians to be killed, particularly during the early weeks and months of the conflict, even in pursuit of low-level Hamas militants. Israel’s use of powerful AI systems in its war in Gaza has entered uncharted territory for advanced warfare, raising a host of legal and moral questions, and transforming the relationship between military personnel and machines. "This is unparalleled, in my memory," said one intelligence officer who used Lavender, adding that they had more faith in a "statistical mechanism" than a grieving soldier. "Everyone there, including me, lost people on October 7. The machine did it coldly. And that made it easier." Two sources said that during the early weeks of the war they were permitted to kill 15 or 20 civilians during airstrikes on low-ranking militants. Attacks on such targets were typically carried out using unguided munitions known as "dumb bombs," the sources said, destroying entire homes and killing all their occupants.

Trump panders to his base, says Election Day will be "Christian Visibility Day"
Republicans were pretend furious this past weekend over the entirely coincidental occurrence of Easter — which all good Christians know falls on a different day every year — landing on March 31 this year, which also happened to be Transgender Day of Visibility (as it has been every year since 2009). Never one to miss an opportunity to pander, the serially indicted philanderer and amateur messianic enthusiast assured his MAGA minions that this grave injustice would not go unanswered and declared that Election Day will be "Christian Visibility Day." Ah, yes. For far too long, oppressed Christians have been unfairly silenced in America. But, praise Donald, in November they shall finally be seen!

José Andrés says Israel deliberately targeted and killed 7 World Central Kitchen aid workers in Gaza airstrikes
Chef and humanitarian activist José Andrés minced no words and pointedly accused Israel of deliberately launching the airstrikes that killed seven aid workers with his World Central Kitchen charity in Gaza, calling the incident a "direct attack" on humanitarian workers trying to provide food and supplies to desperate Palestinians. Andrés paid tribute to the workers who were killed in Monday’s attack, saying they were the "best of humanity." One of the victims was Palestinian. The others came from Australia, Poland, Britain, Canada, and the United States. "Their work was based on the simple belief that food is a universal human right,” he wrote. “It is not conditional on being good or bad, rich or poor, left or right. We do not ask what religion you belong to. We just ask how many meals you need." World Central Kitchen began delivering food aid in northern Gaza last month via a maritime corridor from Cyprus. The charity has served more than 43 million meals in Gaza, preparing hot meals in 68 community kitchens where "Palestinians are feeding Palestinians." In the wake of the attack, WCK and other food aid organizations announced they were suspending operations, further exacerbating the risk of catastrophic widespread famine in Gaza.
Horrific Alabama embryo ruling is still having tragic effects on IVF
The incredibly dumb and dangerous Alabama state Supreme Court ruling in February that declared frozen embryos are children, effectively ending in vitro fertilization procedures in the state, is still wreaking havoc, despite recent state legislation that was supposed to protect the practice. Infirmary Health, a healthcare system in Mobile, will stop IVF procedures at the end of 2024 due to litigation connected to the ruling. The clinic, which was one of the healthcare groups sued in the initial case, faced even more lawsuits after the conservative-packed court dished out its terrible ruling.

Just 57 companies linked to 80% of greenhouse gas emissions since 2016
In news as jarring as it is unsurprising, a mere 57 oil, gas, coal, and cement producers are directly linked to 80% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions since the 2016 Paris climate agreement, an alarming new study has shown. Although governments pledged in Paris to cut greenhouse gases, the analysis reveals that most mega-producers increased their output of fossil fuels and related emissions in the seven years after the so-called "historic" climate agreement, compared with the seven years before. "It is morally reprehensible for companies to continue expanding exploration and production of carbon fuels in the face of knowledge now for decades that their products are harmful," said Richard Heede, who established the Carbon Majors dataset in 2013. "Don’t blame consumers who have been forced to be reliant on oil and gas due to government capture by oil and gas companies."
Former Trump White House lawyer predicts "incompetent" Judge Cannon will get booted from MAGA cult leader's stolen docs trial
Judge Aileen Cannon, appointed to the federal bench by the disgraced ex-president in 2020, has issued a string a perplexing rulings in Trump's sweeping stolen classified documents case and has thus far refused to set a trial date, prompting so-called legal experts — including one-time Trump White House lawyer Ty Cobb — to ask rather pointed questions. Cobb took his criticisms a step further and predicted the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals would eventually kick the "incompetent" Cannon off the case altogether. It cannot happen soon enough.
Judge rejects Donald Trump’s request to delay hush-money trial until Supreme Court rules on immunity
Manhattan Judge Juan M. Merchan rejected the disgraced ex-president's bid to delay his April 15 hush money criminal trial until the Supreme Court rules on the bullshit presidential immunity claims he has raised in another of his criminal cases — spurning yet another of the serially indicted con man's ploys to put off the historic trial. Merchan declared the March 7 request untimely, ruling that Trump’s lawyers had "myriad opportunities" to raise the immunity issue before they finally did so last month, well after a deadline for pretrial motions had already passed. At least one court is getting it right with this guy.
